Myanmar's State Administration Council (SAC) is going to consider negotiations with former State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi based on her response after her trials have reached a conclusion, it said on Friday in a statement after the meeting with Noeleen Heyzer, the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Myanmar.
On August 16, Aung San Suu Kyi was sentenced to six more years in jail for four corruption cases, increasing her total prison term to 17 years. Several of her alleged offenses are still under trial, Myanmar's state media reported.
