China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is racing to fight the sharp increase of coronavirus cases. Since the outbreak, 14 designated treatment hospitals and 11 makeshift hospitals have been put into operation. Specialized medical teams have been set up to ensure that all positive patients can receive treatment timely.

The newly built makeshift hospital of the Olympic Sports Center in Urumqi is transformed from a gymnasium and provides a total of 600 beds. The basic living facilities have all been put in place, medical workers have been stationed and started pre-job training, and it is ready to receive patients.
