Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his Kazakh counterpart, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Friday as he landed in Sochi earlier in the day for a working visit. 

According to Kremlin, Putin said that intergovernmental commission is working actively and ministries of the two countries are preparing various events including joint exercises within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). 

Kremlin said the two leaders also discussed trade and economic development between Russia and Kazakhstan. Putin praised the work between the two nations, saying it is "moving quite actively in all areas, in a positive way."

According to reports from Russian news outlets, Tokayev told Putin that he was determined to give momentum to their countries' bilateral cooperation and he also expressed the hope that Putin will participate in the summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Kazakhstan this October.
