Chinese and Russian naval vessels showed off their prowess on the first day of the Sea Cup surface ship contest off the coast of Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province. Wednesday's competition saw the Chinese People's Liberation Army's missile frigate Linyi topping the seaborne air defense exercise. The corvette Gromkiy from the Russian Navy's Pacific Fleet won the counterterrorism and anti-piracy exercises.
