At least two people died and six others were injured during overcrowded festival celebrations at the Banke Bihari temple in the city of Mathura in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, local police said on Saturday.

As people flocked to the temple, a woman and a man suffocated to death, a senior police officer explained.
