Nearly 100,000 hectares of wetlands in the Paraná Delta nature reserve in Argentina have been ravaged by intentional fires in recent weeks.

Satellite monitoring by the National Commission of Space Activities (CONAE) has determined that the flames have devastated 95,000 hectares in Entre Ríos and Santa Fe provinces.

The wetlands have been the epicenter of fires for the past two years in the country, which authorities say are caused by locals burning grassland.
