A lizard with bright-colored patterns on its body was discovered and then released in the desert in Huocheng County of NW China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

It has a big head and a big pair of eyes, with scales covering its body like roof tiles. The reptile has been identified as a Przewalski's wonder gecko, endemic to east Asia.

It's under class II state protection in China.
