A no-confidence motion was passed by 50-1 in Montenegro's parliament early on Saturday morning, paving the way for the end of the current government.

"We need an election and a stable government," said parliamentarian Danijel Zivkovic, who filed the motion that triggered the vote.

Negotiations on the formation of a new government may begin on Sunday, the Montenegrin News Agency reported.
