Cheng Haiming: I believe any type of animation can be successful

A forum on Chinese animated films was held at the 12th Beijing International Film Festival. Released in 2021, animated film "I Am What I Am" tells the story of real-life left-behind children and conveys how "ordinary people can shine." The inspiring story has touched countless audiences and earned 249 million yuan (about $36.4 million) at the box office. The movie has an average score of 9.4 on Chinese movie rating platform Maoyan. 

"If 'I Am What I Am' can succeed, I believe that any other type of animation can be successful," said the film's producer, Cheng Haiming.
