The recent heavy rains and floods in Sudan has killed 80 people, destroyed over 12,000 homes and damaged over 20,000. Nearly 136,000 Sudanese people have been affected by the floods and heavy rains since June, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The Sudanese government on August 21 declared a state of alert and emergency in six states, the official SUNA news agency reported.
