Kenya's Odinga files court petition disputing poll outcome

Kenyan presidential candidate Raila Odinga has filed an electronic copy of his challenge against the results of this month's election and will file a physical copy later on Monday, a lawyer for Odinga's political alliance told NTV Kenya.
Lawyer Daniel Maanzo told NTV there will be four days for the other parties to respond after Odinga's filing today.
Following last week's win of Deputy President William Ruto with 50.49 percent of the vote against Odinga's 48.85 percent, Odinga said it was a "travesty" as four out of seven election commissioners indicated non-transparency of the tallying of the results.
"We have intelligence and reports that their system was penetrated and hacked and that some of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials actually committed electoral offenses and some of them ought to have been arrested if they were not arrested," Odinga's chief agent denounced.
Despite the situation, Odinga said he would ask the court to settle the dispute and urged constant peace for supporters as they gathered in Kisumu for protests and boycotts.
The seven judges at the Supreme Court will conduct a status conference and make a ruling within 14 days.
