Ma-on, the ninth typhoon of 2022, had intensified to a severe tropical storm by the morning of August 23. Its eye was about 345 kilometers northeast of Manila, the Philippines, at 8:00 a.m. on the Northwest Pacific. The Central Meteorological Observatory issued a blue alert for Typhoon Ma-on at 10:00 a.m. on August 23.Ma-on is expected to slightly increase in intensity as it moves northwest at about 25 km/h. After moving into the northeast of South China Sea early on August 24, Ma-on will gradually approach the coast of Guangdong while still intensifying. Check the video for more.
