On August 22, the ninth typhoon Ma-on and the tenth typhoon Tokage of 2022 formed successively. Tokage has no impact on China, while Ma-on is expected to enter the northeast of the South China Sea in the early morning of August 24. From there, it is expected to gradually approach the coast of Guangdong Province and make landfall there on August 25.
Ma-on will become a tropical or severe tropical storm. Influenced by it, heavy rain will hit Guangdong and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region upon landfall. But Ma-on will disappear very quickly after landing due to its high speed. The scorching weather will be mitigated in southern China for a little while. Sichuan Province and the Chongqing Municipality will have to wait for the stronger cold air at the end of August and rain from western China.
