China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Wednesday hailed the significance of the issuance of a joint report on the future development of bilateral ties, as the two countries celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

It is of symbolic significance for the report by the Committee for Future Development of China-ROK Relations to be officially submitted to the two governments on the anniversary, said Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at a ceremony for the report in Beijing on Wednesday.

The committee has proposed a large number of policy suggestions that are strategic, forward-looking and operational, which will help take China-ROK relations to a new level, Wang said.

Speaking from Seoul, South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin said the report is an important reference for future policy making in ROK-China relations.

He hoped that experts from both sides will strengthen communication and exchange based on the results and experience of the committee.

The Committee for Future Development of China-ROK Relations was established in August 2021, when both sides vowed to conduct joint research, establish a blueprint for the development of bilateral relations, and provide advice and suggestions to the two governments.

On Wednesday, Wang Yi also attended a reception for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the ROK in Beijing. South Korean Ambassador to China Chung Jae-ho attended the event.
