China launches Beijing-3B satellite

China successfully launched a Long March-2D rocket placing the Beijing-3B satellite into orbit on August 24. The rocket blasted off at 11:01 a.m. (BJT) from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center before the satellite entered its preset orbit. It will mainly be used to provide remote sensing services in the fields of land resources management, agricultural resources survey, environment monitoring and applications used to better serve people living in cities.
