ICRC: Afghanistan humanitarian challenge increasingly complex
04:16

Eloi Fillion, the ICRC's head of delegation in Afghanistan, told CGTN that "the humanitarian challenge for the Afghan population is becoming increasingly more complex by the day." Fillion says that multiple factors, including economic sanctions, climate change and international influences are complicating the crisis in Afghanistan. In particular, a lack of funding and the weak economy has led to difficulties in maintaining public services, such as providing health care and disaster relief. Fillion says the ICRC is working closely with different sectors to support the Afghan population, and urges humanitarian organizations to increase their support to Afghanistan.
