Remote areas of China are always at a disadvantage when it comes to medical services. The harsh terrain and climatic conditions makes it difficult to get proper medical consultation and treatment, necessitating long trips to nearby cities. A team of doctors from Beijing Hospital, led by Li Jing, have designed a tool that uses 5G and artificial intelligence technologies to improve treatment and consultation outcomes for patients in far-flung areas like the Tibet and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous regions.
Such efforts are also adding further impetus to China's "Internet + Medical Care" projects in remote areas. In Tibet, nearly 90% of the medical institutions in the region have already completed the necessary hardware installations for providing telemedicine treatment. Beijing Hospital's Li Jing suggests that more advanced technologies should be incorporated to improve treatment outcomes.
