Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality is battling a raging wildfire that has been burning since August 2. Local fire departments have dispatched about 1,700 firefighters and more than 200 helicopters and equipment daily to put out the blaze from both the air and ground. Helicopters are being used in places where the wildfire is rampant. Moreover, fire engines and water pumps are used to fight minor fires. Rescuers also made a 1.3-kilometer-long fire barrier, with a width of 50 to 100 meters, to curb the spread of the wildfire, according to the local emergency response authorities. Two of the three forest fires in Chongqing's Beibei District have been extinguished. No casualties have been reported.
