China's countermeasures against "Taiwan independence" forces and external intervention are acts of justice, Zhang Zhijun, president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, said on Wednesday.

He made the remarks during a meeting with visiting vice chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang Party, Andrew Hsia, in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province.

They exchanged views on the current cross-strait relations. Zhang said both sides should adhere to the 1992 Consensus and oppose "Taiwan independence," strengthen exchanges and communication and work together to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits for the benefit of the compatriots.

A delegation led by Hsia began a visit to the Chinese mainland on August 10.
