Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which the number of Russian military personnel will be increased by 137,000 to 1.15 million, RIA reported on Thursday.
The total size of Russia's armed forces, which will be expanded from 1.9 to 2.04 million, comes into effect on January 1, the decree said.
