One U.S. service member suffered "minor injuries," and two others are being evaluated for minor injuries in separate rocket attacks on facilities housing American troops in Syria, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The attacks began at approximately 7:20 p.m. local time when rockets landed inside the perimeter of Mission Support Site Conoco in northeast Syria. Shortly after, others landed near the Mission Support Site Green Village.

CENTCOM added that two or three suspected Iran-backed militants conducting one of the attacks were killed during the U.S. response.

The Syrian state news agency SANA also confirmed that two U.S. military bases - one in "Al-Omar" oil field located on the border line between Syria and Iraq and the other one in Conoco gas field in Syria's Deir ez-Zor province, were targeted by missile attacks on Wednesday night.

The SANA report said plumes of smoke were seen rising from the places but did not say who launched the attacks.

The exchange of fire in Syria on Wednesday is the latest flare-up in Syria, where some 900 American troops are based, and followed U.S. air strikes in Syria on Tuesday.

The U.S. said Tuesday's strikes targeted infrastructure facilities used by groups affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, but Iran on Wednesday has denied having any link to sites targeted by the U.S.
