The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) recently conducted live-fire military exercises and training around Taiwan Island.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Command said the joint combat-readiness security patrol and combat training exercises in waters and airspace around Taiwan Island involved troops of multiple services.

This is a normalized military operation organized based on the changes of the situation across the Taiwan Straits, it added.

The Command said its troops will continue combat-readiness training to resolutely safeguard the national sovereignty and security and the peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.
