Southern China that has been toasted under extreme heat for about 40 days will finally start to cool down. However, China's national observatory said the hot weather will not end immediately in all affected areas until the end of August and little rain is expected.

Under the influence of the cold air, typhoons and rainfall in northern China, the high temperature in many places in the south has gradually eased over the past few days, according to the observatory.

While in the north, the temperature will continue to drop. The lowest temperature in most of the northeast will drop to around 10 ℃. As the cold air keeps moving south, more rainfall is expected in Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Henan provinces.
