On August 26, 2021, a suicide bomb attack took place near Hamid Karzai International Airport in Afghanistan. At least 170 Afghan civilians were killed in the attack. However, it was later confirmed that most of those civilians had actually been shot to death by U.S. troops, not killed by the explosion. Witnesses interviewed by China Media Group (CMG) reporters after the tragedy confirmed that U.S. troops shot at civilians after the explosion. On the first anniversary of the tragedy, a CMG reporter returned to the scene and interviewed another witness. He reconfirmed the crimes committed by U.S. troops.
