On Wednesday, Thailand's constitutional court suspended Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha from official duty while it considers a legal challenge to his term limit.

The court's order came after it ruled to accept a petition asking for a ruling on his eight-year tenure as prime minister. The petition was forwarded from Parliament to the court on Monday. The surprise suspension threw Thai politics into confusion.

Prayuth has 15 days to respond, the court told the media in a statement, adding that a panel of judges ruled five-four in favor of his suspension, starting from Wednesday. The suspended leader later said on social media he will continue in his role as defense minister. Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan is serving as acting premier of the country.

The Indian air force said on Tuesday that the government had sacked three officers for accidentally firing a missile into Pakistan in March. A Court of Inquiry into the firing of a supersonic cruise missile found that deviation from Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by three officers led to the incident. Services of the officers have been terminated with immediate effect, the air force said.

A day after the incident, Pakistan's military stated that the supersonic surface-to-surface missile flying at three times the speed of sound at 40,000 feet ended up 124 kilometers inside Pakistan, damaging civilian property. There were no casualties.

Heavy rain in Pakistan this week has caused severe flooding in the country, killing dozens.

Numerous locations have experienced flooding as a result of the rainfall, with the impoverished Balochistan province in the southwest suffering the most. More than 4,000 kilometers of roads have been destroyed and tens of thousands of homes have been damaged, with at least 129 bridges washed away, according to officials. The Pakistani government declared an emergency after heavy rain pounded much of the country. An emergency was declared to deal with monsoon flooding, which authorities said had affected more than 30 million people.

The worst monsoon rains in decades have killed at least 900 people in Pakistan since mid-June, including more than 300 children, and left about 50,000 people homeless in the last two months.
