China defeated Australia 3-0 (25-13, 25-8 and 25-8) in the quarterfinal match at the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Cup for Women at PhilSports Arena in Pasig, the Philippines, on Saturday.

Having reached the semifinals with five straight wins, China will meet the winner between the Philippines and Thailand to compete for a spot in the final match.

Australia had some decent resistance at the beginning of the first set as they kept the score close until a 10-10 draw. After that, China dominated the court with a 15-3 run to seal the first set.

China didn't leave much chance for the opponents in the following two sets in both of which they scored 25-8.

This is the seventh AVC Cup for women and China has won five of the previous six tournaments, including the last edition in Thailand in 2018.

Vietnam beat Chinese Taipei 3-2 in another quarterfinal match on Saturday to reach the semifinals. They will face the winner between Iran and Japan to compete for a final berth.

The final match will take place on August 29.
