Harry Kane missed a penalty but scored twice to surpass 200 league goals in his career and give Tottenham Hotspur a 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, maintaining their strong start to the Premier League season.

Forest, who have signed 17 players for about 150 million British pounds (about $176 million) since promotion, made the early running before Spurs' prolific striker silenced the crowd with a low fifth minute strike from inside the penalty area.

After a superb run and pass by Dejan Kulusevski, this was Kane's 200th league goal. It got better for Kane in the second half when he scored a close-range header from a sumptuous outside-of-the-boot cross by Richarlison in the 81st minute.

In between, Kane uncharacteristically missed a penalty following a handball on the line by Forest's Steve Cook. Kane's shot was brilliantly saved by Dean Henderson at full-stretch, making up for his failure to stop the first-half goal.

In the La Liga, Robert Lewandowski scored his second consecutive brace as Barcelona breezed past Real Valladolid with a comfortable 4-0 victory on Sunday.

"To have Lewandowski in your team is a blessing," said Barca coach Xavi Hernandez.

It was Barca's second win from three games in the new season and moved them up to second in the table with seven points, two behind leaders Real Betis and provisionally one ahead of Real Madrid.

"He's an extraordinary player. Spectacular. A natural leader. It's a blessing to have him with us, it's marvelous," he said. "He's a model, a born worker. He's humble, he works for the team, he helps the coaching staff, he makes the difference."

In the late game on Sunday, Real Madrid struggled for 88 minutes at Espanyol. With the scores tied and time running out, Benzema put Real ahead before sealing a 3-1 victory after 10 eventful added minutes.

"We were quite slow," said Real coach Carlo Ancelotti. "We had difficulty managing the intensity of the match."

Paris St Germain (PSG) dropped their first points of the Ligue 1 season as they were forced to come from behind to draw 1-1 at home with Monaco on Sunday.

Neymar's 70th minute penalty came after a VAR review and cancelled out Kevin Volland's 20th minute goal.

The champions lead the standings with 10 points from four matches. They are level on points with Olympique de Marseille and Racing Lens.
