Iraq's powerful Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr on Tuesday apologized to the Iraqi people for violence in the country, and called on supporters to completely withdraw from the parliament and cancel the sit-in.

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command decided to lift the curfew in Baghdad and the provinces as supporters of Moqtada al-Sadr withdrew from the vicinity of the Green Zone after his speech.
