Russian-appointed authorities in the Ukrainian city of Energodar on Tuesday accused Ukrainian forces of once again shelling near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, and two shells exploded near a spent fuel storage building at the plant, Russian news agency RIA reported.
Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the Zaporizhzhia region's administration, also said on Tuesday that Ukrainian forces shelled places along the possible route of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission in Energodar.
Ukraine has not yet responded to the claim, but it earlier accused Russia of an overnight missile attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia. No casualties or significant damage to infrastructure facilities were reported.
The Guardian earlier reported that the IAEA mission had arrived in Kyiv on Monday night en route to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine.
