Foreign ministers from the European Union (EU) on Wednesday backed the suspension of the visa facilitation agreement with Russia, Josep Borrell, the EU's high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, told a press conference after the conclusion of a two-day meeting in Prague.
The suspension will make it harder and more costly for Russian citizens to enter the EU.
"We agreed on fully... suspension of the European Union-Russia visa facilitation agreement," he said. "This will significantly reduce the number of new visas issued by the EU member states. It's going to be more difficult, it's going to take longer."
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto already confirmed the consensus, but said a blanket ban of travel visas for Russians was not immediately agreed by some EU member states.
