The 2022 BRICS Games opened on Thursday, with athletes from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa competing online.

Athletes from China, Brazil, Russia, India, and South Africa will compete in break dancing, chess, and wushu (Chinese martial arts)  as medal events.

The games are organized by China but will take place in an online format to adapt to the challenges of COVID-19 and travel restrictions. 

Thursday night's opening chess match will begin at 8pm Beijing time, and fans can follow the results on the official website. 

Traditional sports, including yoga from India, dragon boat racing from China, and jujitsu from Brazil will be demonstrated on the site. As of now, professional athletes and enthusiasts have already uploaded more than 700 videos.
