Shenzhou-14 taikonauts will conduct extravehicular activities (EVAs), also known as spacewalk, on September 1 for the first time since they entered the China Space Station, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).

Members of the Shenzhou-14 crew have been preparing for the EVAs with a string of activities, including physical training and spacesuit inspections in the airlock cabin of the Wentian lab module. It's also the first time that Chinese astronauts will venture out of the airlock cabin of the Wentian lab module.

Their predecessors, Shenzhou-13 and Shenzhou-12 crew members, all exited from the Tianhe core module.

The current crew have been living in the space station for 88 days since they were launched in early June. They have completed tasks including cargo transportation, platform test in the Wentian module and space station management. They have also unlocked and tested the scientific experimental equipment and the minor robot arm.

The crew have also practiced in-orbit emergency evacuation, controlling of the minor robot arm and first-aid activities.

They reported good conditions at the moment, and the space station is ready for the EVAs.
