Efforts taken by China to wean other developing countries from coal to clean energy is a vital step in the ongoing global efforts to combat climate change, a UN official said on Friday. Beate Trankmann, resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme in China told CGTN's Kate Kui in an interview that it is imperative for all countries to work together to achieve the global carbon emission goals. She said that China has already taken the lead by announcing its intentions to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
