A plane circling Mississippi city threatened to crash on Saturday morning, according to the Tupelo Police Department.
"The plane is reported to be airborne north of Tupelo in the Benton, Union County Area" as of 8:35 a.m. local time, the police said in a Facebook update.
The pilot of the small airplane has threatened to crash the aircraft into a Walmart store, police earlier briefed, adding the Walmart and a nearby convenience store had been evacuated.
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves warned on Twitter that "all citizens should be on alert and aware of updates from the Tupelo Police Department."
