At least 1 killed after float plane crashes near U.S. Whidbey Island

At least one person was killed after a float plane with nine adults and one child crashed into Puget Sound near Whidbey Island in the U.S. at around 3 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard said on Sunday. 

The identity of the deceased has not yet been revealed and several Coast Guard assets and multiple agencies are on the scene to search for the remaining nine people.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the plane was en route to Renton Municipal Airport after departing from Friday Harbor. 

The cause of the incident has not been ascertained yet.
