Star quarterback (QB) Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams will have "no limitations" playing against the Buffalo Bills in the 2022 NFL season opener at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Thursday.

Stafford was carrying pain in his right elbow for the whole 2021 season and he had to receive an injection to keep playing back then. He didn't throw at all during the team's spring workouts.

"I feel good," Stafford said. "I'm ready to go. No limitations. ... I feel great. I'm ready to go play. Can always be better. Can always try to feel like I'm 21 again. I'll keep trying. But no, I feel really good. I feel like I can make every throw."

Having started in all of the games for the Rams last season, Stafford passed 404-for-601 for 4,886 yards and 41 touchdowns (TDs) with 17 interceptions during the regular season, and 98-for-140 for 1,188 yards and nine TDs with three interceptions. The Rams won Super Bowl LVI after defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 at home on February 13.

"I tell you what, he's throwing the ball excellent," Rams head coach Sean McVay said of Stafford. "And he feels good. Everything that I'm seeing is reflective of everything he's saying to me. And so I feel really good about that."

The Bills will miss their cornerback Tre'Davious White not only for the season opener against the Rams, but also for the following three games before he recovers from a torn ACL. Fortunately for the team, safety Jordan Poyer will come back in time from hyperextending his elbow a month ago.

"We're trending in that direction," Bills head coach Sean McDermott said. "So I'll be surprised if he (Poyer) isn't [playing Thursday]. I plan on him being out there today and we'll see how he does."

"I'm good. Feel great," Poyer said. "I feel ready to go, ready to play. Exciting time of year, missed quite a bit of training camp, but I felt good to be out there, out of the red jersey today, hitting again. It felt good."

The Bills were 11-6 in the regular season during the 2021 campaign and scored 483 points, the third-most in the league. Their QB Josh Allen threw 409-for-646 for 4,407 yardsand 35 TDs with 15 interceptions.
