UN humanitarian chief warns of imminent famine in Somalia

The United Nations on Monday warned of an imminent famine in parts of Somalia between October and December, as a drought worsens and global food prices rise.

"Famine is at the door," U.N. humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths said at a news conference in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu.
