Rescue and resettlement underway in quake-hit Sichuan

The residents of Moxi Town in Luding County Moxi Township of Luding County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, spent the night in safe areas after rescue teams arrived to assist in resettlement efforts following a magnitude-6.8 earthquake. The rescue workers are racing against time to set up tents for those affected. Volunteers are distributing temporary supplies such as instant noodles and bottled water. Emergency power-generation equipment is supplying electricity to residents sheltering in the town square. The Sichuan Forest Fire Brigade, together with the armed police, public security and other rescue forces are conducting the operations. Some 3,000 tents and 10,000 cots have been allocated to Luding County.
