Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed on Wednesday that Moscow has done everything it can to ensure that Ukraine is able to export grain.

He said that problems on the global food market are likely to intensify and that a humanitarian catastrophe is looming.

Speaking at the plenary session of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum, Putin noted that almost all the grain exported from Ukraine went to EU countries instead of the poorest nations.

Putin also said that he will discuss limiting grain exports from Ukraine to Europe with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Exports of grain across the Black Sea ports resumed after Kyiv and Moscow inked a deal with the United Nations and Türkiye acting as guarantors in July.

More than two million tonnes of grain and food items have been exported under the deal since August, according to Turkish authorities.

Ukraine's agriculture minister said on Wednesday it was not aware of any formal steps taken by Russia to amend the terms of the deal, which remains the only significant diplomatic breakthrough in the six-month conflict.
