Residents of Kangding City in Sichuan Province queued to donate blood after a deadly earthquake hit Luding County. Local blood supplies were perilously low following procedures to treat the injured. On September 6 alone, more than 110 people donated 36,000 milliliters of blood to treat the injured. By September 7, the blood center said that it had collected enough blood to address the current emergency, and will defer further donations in order to focus on distribution.
