Underwater excavation and extraction of cultural relics found in a shipwreck off the coast of east China's Fujian Province begins on Thursday. The shipwreck was discovered in 2014 by a team from the Fujian Provincial Museum in waters off Shengbeiyu (meaning "holy grail islet" in Chinese). The application of new material will ensure the safety of fragile artifacts when excavating from the water.
