Xi promotes senior military officer Wang Qiang to rank of general

Chinese President Xi Jinping, also chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), has promoted senior military officer Wang Qiang to the rank of general, the highest rank for officers in active service in China.

Xi presented a signed certificate of the order to Wang at a ceremony held by the CMC in Beijing on Thursday.
