For thousands of years, the Mid-Autumn Festival has been celebrated in China as an important time of reunion. Families and communities come together to feast and give thanks for a year's good harvests. Today, much of the interest lies in the quintessential delicacy: mooncakes. Thanks to old recipes, chefs are able to recreate flavors from 100 years ago. In south China's Guangzhou, university students are giving the age-old traditions a new twist through live action role-playing. Wearing traditional Han costumes, they engaged in a poetry and riddles battle, and learned to make mooncakes with old-fashioned wooden molds.
