Britain's King Charles III on Monday called parliament "the living and breathing instrument of our democracy" as he addressed lawmakers and peers at Westminster Hall in London after being officially proclaimed king following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The new king also pledged to follow her approach and commitment to a constitutional government.
The coffin of his late mother will lie in state at Westminster Hall from Wednesday evening until her funeral on September 19.
