The Qiantang River in east China's Zhejiang Province is home to the world's largest tidal bore, a strong tide that pushes up the river against the current along a coast where a river empties into an ocean or sea. The best viewing period starts in the seventh month of the Chinese lunar calendar. Returning tidal bore, crisscrossing tidal bore and one-line tidal bore are three common types in the Qiantang River.
