The EU plans a "deep and comprehensive reform of the electricity market" to cope with the energy crisis, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday.
Proposed measures include a cap on electricity producers' profits expected to raise 140 billion euros ($140 billion) to "cushion" consumers from high prices, energy rationing, temporary state aid and decoupling the prices of gas and electricity, she said in her annual State of the European Union address.
