When Robert Lewandowski returned to the Allianz Arena on behalf of Barcelona to play against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League game on Tuesday, Bayern fans greeted him in a surprisingly warm way. So did his former teammates, except that they beat him and his new team 2-0.
Manchester City hosted Borussia Dortmund at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday. Erling Haaland met his old teammates as well, just like Lewandowski did. The difference was, City won 2-1 and Haaland scored the game-winning goal for City.
Liverpool secured a valuable victory as well after defeating Ajax 2-1 at Anfield on Tuesday. Mohamed Salah scored again in the Champions League, the first time since he did so against Inter Milan last season in February. Liverpool's manager Jurgen Klopp should feel safer in his position after this win.
Juventus and their manager Massimiliano Allegri didn't have that luck either after they were upset by Benfica 2-1 at Juventus Stadium on Wednesday. It's their second straight loss in the Champions League. Nor have Juventus been doing well in Serie A where they have only won two of their six games so far.
