The African Development Bank (AfDB) has opened a window for its donors to mobilize $13 billion to support climate change adaptation actions in Africa, AfDB's President Akinwumi Adesina said Friday.

With this fund, 20 million African farmers will have access to the most efficient technologies capable of resisting climate change, said Adesina at the third replenishment meeting of the African Development Fund.

As climate change is disrupting Africa with increasing floods and drought, he said, the fund will help farmers have access to insurance against the adverse effects of climate change.

With the mobilization of $13 billion, "1 million hectares of degraded lands will be restored, and at least 9.6 million people will have access to renewable energy," said the president.
