During the SCO summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin says Türkiye will pay for a quarter of its Russian natural gas imports in rubles. The news was announced at a sideline meeting between Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Putin says Türkiye is a reliable trade partner. It imports almost half of its gas and about a quarter of its oil from Russia. The NATO member has refused to join international sanctions on Russia, during the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
