Massimiliano Allegri, manager of Serie A's Juventus, said he was "amused" by the talks of sacking him at the press conference on Saturday ahead of the game against Monza at Stadio Brianteo.

As one of the most successful clubs in Serie A history, Juventus have been struggling since the 2022-23 season began. They finished their six games in the Italian top division with two wins and four draws, ranking only eighth on the standings table. Moreover, the club lost both of their first two games in the UEFA Champions League, 2-1 to Paris Saint-Germain and 2-10 to Benfica.

Hence, there was understandably a lot of criticism against Allegri as well as voices calling for his dismissal, but Allegri didn't sound bothered at all.

"I'm happy that we're talking about the dismissal of Allegri again, I had missed it a lot. I missed it because it amuses me," the 55-year-old Italian manager said at the press conference. "Everyone makes mistakes, me first, I certainly make more than the others, but right now we need clarity."

It should be pointed out that Juventus were held back by injuries which cost them Federico Chiesa, Paul Pogba, Manuel Locatelli and Alex Sandro among other key members in the loss against Benfica. They also lost Matthijs de Ligt, Paulo Dybala and another series of players during the summer transfer window.

It's fair to say that Juventus with their available players at the moment are not as good as they were last season when they finished fourth in Serie A and reached the Round of 16 in the Champions League.

"It is normal that we judge my work and that of the staff in the light of results, but I am confident and calm," Allegri said. During his last tenure as Juventus manager between 2014 and 2019, he led the club to win five straight Serie A titles, four Coppa Italia championships and reach the Champions League final twice.
